A pure devotee of the Lord accepts tribulations as favors from the Lord. Since the Lord is absolute, there is no mundane difference between the two. (Between tribulations and favours). Srimad Bhagavatham, 1.9.17.

A pure devotee always thinks himself as not-devotee. If one thinks he is big devotee, that is not good -- thinking that he is first degree. We should not be puffed up. A devotee avoids it -- remaining always in the second degree. Krishna has given everyone something extraordinary, and to serve Krishna with one’s extraordinary talent means successful life. His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami PrabhupadaIn his letter to Sukadeva, 17th March, 1973.
One should learn how to associate with the devotees of the Lord by gathering with them to chant the glories of the Lord. This process is most purifying. As devotees thus develop their loving friendship, they feel mutual happiness and satisfaction. And by thus encouraging one another they are able to give up material sense gratification, which is the cause of all suffering.Srimad Bhagavatham, 11.3.30.

Every man should act like this : when he meets a person more qualified than himself, he should be very pleased ; when he meets someone less qualified than himself, he should be compassionate toward him ; and when he meets someone equal to himself, he should make friendship with him. In this way one is never affected by the threefold miseries of this material world. Srimad Bhagavatham, 4.8.34.

Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has inaugurated the Hare Krishna Movement, which is not different from Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. If one associates with this Movement, he directly associates with the Supreme Personality of Godhead. People should take advantage of the chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra and thus gain relief from all the problems created in this age of Kali.Srimad Bhagavatham, 9.24.56.

When we are children, innocent, we have no bad habits, but as we grow and associate with bad company, we also acquire all these bad habits. To give up all these bad habits means we have to associate with saadhus or devotees, saintly persons. Then we can give it up. This is called ‘anartha-nivritti’, means giving up all unwanted bad habits. His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami PrabhupadaIn his conversations, Mexico, 11th February, 1975

When we keep our association with Krishna, every activity is proper and liberating, but if we should disassociate ourselves from the Lord’s mercy, then like a hand which is severed from the body we become ugly and useless. His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami PrabhupadaIn his letter to Hrisikesa, 26th November, 1968.
A devotee who faithfully engages in the worship of the Deity in the temple but does not behave properly toward other devotees or people in general is called a praakrutha bhakta, a materialistic devotee, and is considered to be in the lowest position.

Srimad Bhagavatham, 11.2.47.
Bhakti siddhanta
We are put to test and trial in this world. Only those who attend the kirtana of the devotees can succeed. - Every spot on earth where discourses on God are held is a place of pilgrimage. - Possession of objects not related to Krsna is our main malady. - Let me not desire anything but the highest good for my worst enemies. - As dalliance with the body in luxury increases, so wanes the spirit of service of the Lord. - Those favored by God find their paths set by thorns. - There is no peace or happiness in our worldly life. Circumstances create turmoil and annoyance. - Chant the mahamantra loudly and with attachment. This will drive away inertia, worldly evils and pests. - Be indifferent to bazaar gossip, stick firmly to your cherished goals, no lack or impediments of the world will ever stand in your way. - Pay due respects to the extroverts of the world, but do not be appreciative of their manners and conduct. They are to be shaken off from your mind. - A devotee feels the presence of God everywhere, but one averse to the Lord denies His existence anywhere. - You cannot appreciate transcendental matters with the reasoning of the world. It is sheer nonsense to decry them with the measuring stick of your intellect. - To recite the name of Sri Krsna is bhakti. - Life is for the glorification of topics on Hari. If that is stopped, then what need is there to carry on life. - Physical illness with Hari-bhajana is preferred to physical fitness without Hari-bhajana. - Our span of life on earth is short. Our life will be crowned with success if the body wears out with constant discourses on Hari. - We are here on earth not to work as artisans for making big buildings with wood and stone but to work only as messengers for the teachings of Sri Caitanya Deva. - A sycophant is neither a guru or a preacher. - To transform the adverse desires of the jivas is the supreme duty of the most merciful. To rescue one person from the stronghold of Mahamaya is an act of superb benevolence, far superior to opening innumerable hospitals. - Unless we are devoted to God, secularism shall not leave us. - Look within. Amend yourself, rather than pry into the frailities of others. - In this world of Maya, averse to the Lord, full of trials and tribulations, only patience, humility and respect for others are our friends for Hari-bhajana. - The Lord, Gaurasundara, puts His devotees in various difficulties and associations to test their patience and strength of mind. Success depends on their good fortune. - When faults in others misguide and delude you - have patience, introspect, find faults in yourself. Know that others cannot harm you unless you harm yourself. - I wish that every selfless, tender-hearted person of Gaudiya Math will be prepared to shed two hundred gallons of blood for the nourishmentof the spiritual corpus of every individual of this world.

Even if devotees excuse those who insult them, Krishna takes a different position and He is strict on this matter. Krishna will not excuse or tolerate any insult of His devotees. If we want to please Krishna, we must never insult His devotees. His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami PrabhupadaIn his lecture on Bhagavad Gita, Text 1.26 and 1.27, London, 1973.We act according to our whims, and the resultant action is there immediately. Nature’s law, God’s law, is there. It is not God’s creation that somebody is suffering from some painful condition and somebody is enjoying. No. We infect ourselves with some contamination because this material world is full of contamination. You must remain very cautious. Otherwise you will have to suffer. His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami PrabhupadaIn his conversations in Mayapur, 19th March, 1976.
If there is little pain in the finger, I become so much disturbed because I have got intimate connection with this finger. Similarly, we have got intimate connection with Krishna, and we are fallen. Therefore, Krishna also feels little pain, and therefore, He comes down. Krishna is feeling pain. So you become Krishna conscious. Then Krishna will feel pleasure. His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami PrabhupadaIn his conversations, Vrindavan, 24thApril, 1975.A bona fide devotee of Lord Krishna is always pained to see the fallen condition of the whole world. Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Sarasvati Thakura used to say, “There is no scarcity of anything within this world, the only scarcity is of Krishna Consciousness.” That is the vision of all the pure devotees. Because of this lack of Krishna Consciousness in human society, people are suffering terribly, being merged in an ocean of nescience and sense gratification. A devotee onlooker is very much aggrieved to see such a situation in the world. Sri Chaitanya Charithaamrutha, Aadi Leela,Chapter – 13, Text – 67.
As far as the conditioned soul is concerned, there is no wonder that he has some sinful activities in his past life, and this should be admitted and confessed before the Lord. As soon as this is done, the Lord excuses the sincere devotee. But that does not mean that one should take advantage of the Lord’s causeless mercy and expect to be excused over and over again, while he commits the same sinful activities. His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami PrabhupadaIn ‘The Nectar of Devotion’, Page 81.
Simply we have to desire to please Him (Krishna), and not desire anything for ourselves. Then we become simply instruments for His will. This is the important essence of Krishna consciousness. His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami PrabhupadaIn his letter to Atreya Rishi, 20th October, 1973.One should try to purchase a ticket to go back home, back to Godhead. The price of such a ticket is one’s intense desire for it, which is not easily awakened, even if one continually performs pious activities for thousands of lives. All mundane relationships are sure to be broken in the course of time but once one establishes a relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead in a particular rasa, it is never to be broken, even after the annihilation of the material world.Sri Chaitanya Charithaamritha, Adi Leela, Chapter – 1, Text – 56.The mind is not to be killed. Mind or desire cannot be stopped, but to develop a desire to function for spiritual realization, the quality of engagement by the mind has to be changed. The mind is the pivot of the active sense organs, and as such if the quality of thinking, feeling and willing is changed, naturally the quality of actions by the instrumental senses will also change. Srimad Bhagavatham, 2.1.17.
The supreme occupation (Dharma) for all humanity is that by which men can attain to loving devotional service unto the transcendent Lord. Such devotional service must be unmotivated and uninterrupted in order to completely satisfy the self.Srimad Bhagavatham, 1.2.6.
Always think of the Lotus Feet of Sri Krishna and you will find no difficulties in executing the tasks allotted to you by Krishna. His Divine Grace A.C. Bhakthivedantha Swami PrabhupadaIn his letter to Satsvarupa Das, 28th August, 1973.We have to work sincerely, and because Krishna is in everyone’s heart, there will be no difficulty to have the necessary facilities. His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami PrabhupadaIn his letter to Satsvarupa, 14th September, 1969.Always think of the Lotus Feet of Sri Krishna and you will find no difficulties in executing the tasks allotted to you by Krishna. His Divine Grace A.C. Bhakthivedantha Swami PrabhupadaIn his letter to Satsvarupa Das, 28th August, 1973.
